COUNTING THE SMALL BLESSINGS/ MIRACLES

The Rising Army

Christianity, Life, War, Truth...

Greetings, Soldier! Oftentimes, we tend to overlook the little things, the small detailed events in our lives simply because they feel insignificant at the time even when things turn out well in that area. It’s very easy actually, and I can admit that I have done it one too many times in my life.

So, my question for you today is; How many times do you look at those small, insignificant but good moments of your life, and just say “Thank you, God”?

I want you to take a few moments and think about that before you read on.

We are always asking God for 'the bigger blessings'. For big and notable things, things that will make people talk and enemies jealous. Sure, who doesn’t want big miracles? But in looking to and hoping for the big, are you overlooking the small ones that already are?

I think that we get so used to the small ones being there always that we just don’t notice them anymore. Just think of how a rich person would feel about getting a small plate of food compared to how a poor person would.

I’ll give you an even better example yet. A few weeks ago, my laptop was making a lot of fan noise and heating up. Now, this was a huge problem for me because I had no money to replace the parts and I really needed my laptop for my studies. Of course, prior to that, there were a lot of much bigger and arguably more important things I was asking and trusting Him for.

I watched a sermon one day, where the vessel of God stated how powerful the anointing oil is, and how it can put God’s hand on things and situations, and make things to begin to function in the way they were intended.

Notably, to the ‘ordinary’ person, all that sounds and seems insane.

Get in line, dude!

True Christians aren't sane people. We’re sane spiritually but insane to the world. We thrive on faith-based actions.

So, I decided to put my faith to work and try this, while also silencing my fleshly inclination to question the idea. You see, as believers of the gospel of Christ, we are called to be inclined to and led by the spirit, not the flesh. I drew a cross sign with the anointing oil, which indicates the mark of Christ and His act of love that restored the authority we were first given on earth when God created Adam.

It did not perfect immediately, but not long before that, and within a span of a week or so, the noise stopped and my laptop’s temperature returned to normal. Praise and Glory be to God!

This would seem like such a small insignificant miracle. I mean, ‘Has God now become a computer specialist when I am there asking Him for a car or money or whatever it is that is bigger than a laptop’. But you see, His word says in John 16:23, “Amen Amen I say to you, whatever you ask from the Father, He will give it to you in My name” (this was the Lord Jesus speaking). If I had not been alert, I could’ve or really would’ve just overlooked all that.

So, ask yourself again, ‘Have I been overlooking the small blessings or miracles in my life?’

You’ve spent most of your life asking God for the big and notable things you want, and it seems like they aren’t forthcoming, but what you didn’t know is that He has already answered the little things that you actually needed, but you didn’t even know or didn’t ask for.

That you are alive today is a miracle, a blessing, a testimony of God’s everlasting mercy, but when was the last time you woke up and gave thanks for that? That your family is still alive, and you haven’t gone into mourning, even if they’re sick. When last did you thank God for this unusual grace?

Yeah, it all seems insignificant compared to financial prosperity, healing from chronic diseases, marriage, fertility, etc. Still, they are good things that happened to you, and proof of God’s goodness in your life. Give thanks always. Ephesians 5:20.

Shalom and have a blessed day.
